55lbs 18 feet up may be a problem unless you have a really really stiff pole........I would probably lower it a bit and reinforce the lower 2/3 of the pole somehow......

My pole seems pretty stiff, but to make the issue potentially worse; I think my pole's girth is a bit lacking. Its only 1 3/8th diameter, but it does seem strong. My current thinking is to find a 10 ft pole that this one could fit snugly inside of and sink that down at least 3 feet in packed concrete. That way I can remove the taller pole if needed, and it will have additional support for almost half its length. I drill a hole and bolt it to keep the house from spinning.

So I'm pole scouting at Home Depot tonight.
