KenA's Bathouse

Postby KenA » Thu Feb 10, 2005 5:22 pm

Hey all,

These are pics of my bathouse. I made it from scrap 5/8 plywood and scrap 1/2 x 4 boards. I grooved both sides of both chambers and the landing pad. Wood screwed it all together and caulked the exterior seams. The interior was not caulked. Another 1/2 x 4 is both the roof and internal ceiling, however, a piece of scrap shingle was curved over a strip of 2x2 and stapled to the roof for rain and sun protection. I painted it with spray paint last year but that was not very good. Plan to sand and paint after caulk touch-up before remounting on a pole this year.

Image

Internal dimentions are 14" wide and 20" tall, one chamber is 7/8" and other is 1" wide. I did not put in the "ventilation slot" on the front that I read about somewhere else but not sure it is nessessary.

Again, any input is appreciated.

Thanks
KenA

Nice Ken! Just a couple of coats of exterior paint and your good to go. Consider two bat houses if you can, mounted back to back. As you can see I put the image tags on the picture URL you uploaded so their inline with information you just posted. Hope you don't mind. Will be eager to hear about any success you have...

Joe,

No, I don't mind at all. If I knew how to do that I would. As it was it took me a half hour to fiddle with this forum to get the urls there!

So how do you make the pictures show up on the message?

Thanks,
KenA

KenA while in the post box: You highlight the URL by left clicking and dragging your cursor from left to right highlighting the URL. Then click the Img button above right of post Box. This will automatically put a [img]and%20end%20image%20tag[/img] before and after the URL. Once posted the image will appear inline. You can also hit Preview instead of Submit prior to posting to see if you have it right. In a future version of the forum, uploading images will be easier. Click on the "edit" Image in you photo post above which I modified and you will see what it looks like.. Also try to use unique names like KenAbathouse_topside.jpg for instance to avoid duplicates from others in the names of your images when uploading them. You had no problem this time. Thanks
