I was mowing around the bat house this afternoon and found a dead Little Brown pup lying on the ground under the bat house.  It was badly dehydrated and shriveled up.  I don't know if it died from hitting the ground from 20' up, or if it just died from being sick.  But, it appears that it had not been healthy for some time. 

I went back out this evening to watch them emerge, at it appeared that a number of the pups were attached to their mothers when they emerged.  Apparently, they are getting ready to start flying.

I love to watch the Purple Martins train their young on catching bugs while I'm mowing the pasture, and I wonder if the process is very similar for the bats.
