Chimney Swifts

Has anyone here ever built a Chimney Swift tower?

They seem to share a lot of characteristics with bats:
- Natural roosts are large, dead trees
- Natural roosts are disappearing or completely gone in many areas
- Cannot perch on a branch or the ground - must hang
- Eat tons of insects that bug humans

An interesting experiment would be to hang bat houses on a swift tower. I guess hanging a bat house on a chimney would be the same.

Anyway, just wondering if anyone has tried building one.

That is really neat!! I wish I had chimney swifts in my area (Southern Arizona).

Dave, I inquired about building a chimney swift tower/bat house combo but was advised not to because the bat bugs often kill nestlings......

FYI I was recently on a business trip to Frederick, Maryland and while out walking one evening I saw a flock of chimney swifts:
